Archivo Lafuente, created by José María Lafuente in 2002, brings together numerous collections and documentary holdings related to modern and contemporary art. At present, the Archive consists of some 138,000 items in a wide variety of mediums and formats: 19,000 original works (paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, collages...), graphic works, correspondence, publications, documents, projects, multiples, audiovisuals, mail art, bibliography, etc.
The mission of the Lafuente Archive is threefold: to compile these materials and guarantee their preservation, to open up a variety of lines of research that allow us to learn about them first-hand, and to disseminate the wealth of ideas, acts, events and happenings that are reflected and illustrated in them, and that make up the history of modern and contemporary art from the early avant-garde to post-modernity.
