The Archivo Lafuente was founded by José María Lafuente in 2002. It brings together several collections and documentary fonds related to modern and contemporary art. Presently, the archive houses more than 130 000 items in a great variety of mediums and formats (paintings, sculptures, photographs, graphic works, collages, manuscripts, printed matter, books, magazines, leaflets, ephemera, correspondence, etc.)
The mission of the Archivo Lafuente is threefold: to compile the above mentioned materials, with the aim of tracing and following lines of research, so as to gain and disseminate first-hand insight into the wealth of ideas, acts and events that shaped the history of modern and contemporary art from the avant-gardes up to post-modernity.
